Turnbuckles & Rigging Screws

Old fashioned turnbuckle bodies are manufactured by forging a soft bronze to produce the desired shape. Petersen's unique GT turnbuckle body is machined from naval grade, ultrasonically inspected aluminium bronze. Using this process has allowed a 20% weight reduction without compromising strength. Each body is individually hand polished and chrome plated to give an excellent finish.

Our closed ‘rigging screw’ body is made from stainless steel grade 316L. Sizes up to 1/2” are manufactured from seamless (no welds) pressure-tube. Sizes 5/8” and above have aluminium bronze thread inserts to prevent galling. Closed bodies can be slotted to allow locking with split pins - please contact us for details.

All parts are made by Petersen and we have full traceability - material certificates and certificates of conformity are available on request.

NOTE: Throughout this catalogue we use the following convention – the pin size is the smallest diameter hole that our pin will fit into, the hole size is the largest diameter pin that will fit in the hole. For example, if we list a pin as being 12mm then the pin will fit into a 12mm diameter hole and conversely if we list a hole as being 16mm then a 16mm diameter pin will fit in the hole.
